Track an air shipment

Air shipments are fast. Well, they should be when compared to an ocean shipment. With that, you are paying most likely more as air shipments are measured by weight as ocean shipments are measured against volume.  When tracking air shipments, speed matters because by the time you receive the Master Airway Bill (MAWB), the shipment could already be en-route. It's important to ask for this document immediately upon production is completed and freight is booked to miss no time in tracking the flight. 

Below you will find the ways to link ocean shipments to your purchase orders:

1. Adding directly to an order
2. Utilizing global actions to link a shipment

Adding directly to an order

1. When you log in, either use global search to locate the purchase order number or use a view from the Orders base
   • If locating from the Orders base, either hover over the order and click Open order details or click into a PO number cell
   • Under Logistics Tracking on the right side, click "Add a Shipment"
     
   • Select "New Shipment Tracking"
     • Note: at this stage, you can choose to create a new Shipment Consolidation or link the order to an existing Consolidation
   • Choose "Add Shipment Tracking Info" 
     • You can also choose to "Add Shipment from Scratch," which creates a blank Shipment Consolidation
   • Select the Shipment Type
     • Lookup a shipment to track its journey
     • Store your own tracking information
   • Click Lookup a shipment to track its journey and Next
   • Select Air as the transportation mode
   • Enter airway bill number
   • Click NEXT
   • Review the information, click SAVE
     Note: There is a chance that these shipments could be labeled as "Not Found". Since air is a quick mode of transit, these can expire by the time you are notified of the airway bill number. Prevent this by creating an automated task for each air shipment.

Utilizing global actions to link a shipment 

1. After logging in, click the Global Actions blue "+" button
2. Click Add Shipment
3. Select "New Shipment Tracking"
   • Note: at this stage, you can choose to create a new Shipment Consolidation or link the order to an existing Consolidation
4. Choose "Add Shipment Tracking Info" 
   • You can also choose to "Add Shipment from Scratch," which creates a blank Shipment Consolidation
5. Select Air as the transportation mode
6. Click NEXT
7. Enter the airway bill number
8. After entering the information,  in the dropdown menu above select the orders you wish to link. This is a many-to-one relationship.
9. Click SAVE
